INT’L TRADE GROUP FEATURES SOUTHERN INDUSTRIAL IN SAFETY VIDEO 

RALEIGH – The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA), an international trade organization, recently featured Southern Industrial Constructors and Southern Crane in new training videos on workplace safety. 

Southern Industrial offered the SC&RA free use of its facilities, employees and equipment to produce the video, which will be used by member companies to educate and train their workers.

This is the third time Southern Industrial has offered its services to the SC&RA for the purposes of producing training videos.  

“Safety is a top priority for us here at Southern Industrial and Southern Crane, so we gladly support industry-wide efforts to educate and train workers about this important issue,” said Earl Johnson Jr., chairman.  “And we are flattered that the SC&RA feels our own internal safety program reflects the industry’s high standard for safety excellence.” 

The filming of three separate videos will take place over two days at Southern Industrial’s headquarters in Raleigh. Five to eight Southern Industrial employees will provide technical advice and safety tips for work involving crane-suspended work platforms, aerial work platforms and hazard communication. 

Southern Industrial recently received a “Rigging Job of the Year” award from SC&RA. The award, given in the $150,000-job-and-under category, was earned for its work replacing a condenser at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s cogeneration power plant. 

The SC&RA seeks to help 1,200 companies in 44 nations operate efficient and safe businesses by monitoring and affecting state and national legislation and regulations; researching and reporting on safety and best practices; and hosting forums where industry issues are advanced.
