Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. is accepted to the OSHNC Carolina Rising STAR Program.

Raleigh, NC (August 1, 2001) -- Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. announces that it has been accepted into the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety & Health’s (OSHNC) Carolina Rising STAR Program at the Monsanto plant in Fayetteville, N.C.

This program is designated as an intermediate stepping stone program aimed at employers in the general industry, private sector or the public sector who do not yet meet the qualifications for the Carolina STAR Program, but who have implemented a safety and health program and are working towards the Carolina STAR Program. When OSHNC determines that an employer has demonstrated the commitment and possesses the resources to achieve the Carolina STAR requirements within three years, then the Rising STAR Program is used to set STAR goals that when achieved, will help qualify the site for Carolina STAR participation.

This OSHNC Carolina STAR Program is designed for worksites and companies with comprehensive and successful safety and health programs, making them leaders in employee protection. The STAR Program is open to any industry and the public sector with injuries and illness incidence rates and lost workday case rates 50 percent below the state average for their type of business. The Carolina STAR Program is intended as a supplement: a means of encouraging voluntary improvements and expansion of worker protection systems. STAR participants must meet all relevant OSHNC standards and have ongoing safety and health programs. OSHNC verifies qualifications, exempts participants from programmed inspection lists for the duration of their participation, provides necessary technical support, and evaluates the safety and health programs of the participants. Being a North Carolina STAR Contractor demonstrates to your employees and the community that you have successfully implemented a high quality safety and health program and that you are a leader in the safety and health field.

Southern Industrial Constructors is currently a STAR Contractor at GE Aircraft Engines in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and a Rising STAR Contractor at Monsanto in Fayetteville, North Carolina, plus we work on a project basis and on an as needed basis at other STAR Sites.
